On_off. A study on space with three performers and one videocamera, Videoperformance 30 min, Vienna 2001, with Katharina Bamberger, Bernadette Dewald, Veronika Zak
The protagonists are acting within a setting with integrated camera and synchronous video-projection. This immediate optical signal transition allows an access to perspectives for the viewers, which are usually restricted to them and thus it opens out fixed structures of perception. The opening traverses different layers such as doubling or turnarounds of perspectives and plateaus of closeness and distance. The element of memory is transformed into visibility by the video-projection: A camera - as “a machine for memories” - influences the experience of time for performers and spectators. The parallel image refers both to “another presence” as to the documentation of the process and therefore to the future. A subsequent combination of the intakes of the performance-camera with the shoots of a camera from the spectators view condenses once again the elements of the performance.
