Blanc et rouge (1994), realisiert im Rahmen der Ausstellung "X-Location. 6 Videoinstallationen", kuratiert von Anna Steininger, OK Linz.
Two performances with exactly identic movement cycles (one with white colouring, the other one in red) are projected onto two adjoined walls of the space. These cycles are rerun 12 times and thereby they are periodically quickened. The performances follow a Polynesian dance ritual with a strictly prescribed succession of movements and gestures as well as a purported rhythm. The concrete meaning of the gestures are forgot, thus they remained as a pure kinestetic frame. A kind of hidden script is the so-called Labanotion of the dance, looking like a complicated block diagram, which can be found in the catalogue of the exhibition. |read more... |
